Steve Barker is a Chartered Building Surveyor with over 40 years' experience in the property and construction industry. Prior to becoming a partner in private practice in 1982 he was employed by Liverpool City Council as a building control officer and then as a surveyor prior to joining the University of Liverpool as a senior surveyor responsible for 50% of the University precinct.

Steve is currently a Director of Barker surveying Ltd, Chartered Building Surveyors and his experience covers a full range of building surveying activities including:

Large scale condition, fire and space utilisation audits
Access consultancy
Design and administration of alteration and new build works
Party wall surveyor/ boundary disputes
Principal designer, planning supervisor and CDM co-ordinator under CDM regulations
General practice work such as; building surveys, specific defect reports, dilapidations, fire risk assessments, IT development, training for DDA CDM and expert witness.

Qualifications

Fellow of The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (Building Surveying)
Fellow of The Chartered Association of Building Engineers (also Past President)
Diploma in Health & Safety Construction Management (with distinction) from The Royal Society of Health.
CITB CSCS PQP (Professionally Qualified Person)
NEBOSH Fire Safety and Risk Management Certificate. NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health
RICS Certificate in Dilapidations

Interests

Steve was National President of the Association of Building Engineers 1999-2000, twice Chairman of The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, North West Building Surveying Division and is a Past Chairman of The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, Merseyside and Cheshire Association. He was also the founding Chairman of North West Pyramus and Thisbe Club. (Party Wall Surveyors).
